Positioned on the top of a gorge, this luxury accommodation offers spectacular 360-degree views of the Komati River and the northern Drakensberg mountains, and is washed in the sound of the water rushing over the weir below.

A luxury home away from home
The house features four spacious bedrooms, each designed to provide comfort and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
There are two queen en-suite rooms, offering guests privacy and convenience with their own attached bathrooms. In addition, there is a well-appointed queen room, as well as a room furnished with twin beds, catering to a variety of group arrangements and family needs.
One of the queen rooms is set slightly apart from the main house, providing an extra level of privacy. This self-contained suite includes its own full bathroom and a cosy fireplace, creating an inviting retreat for relaxation and warmth.
Main House Features
The main house at Riverbend on Komati offers a comfortable and well-equipped space for guests. It includes two full bathrooms, ensuring convenience for all visitors. The kitchen is fully equipped with a six-plate stove, breakfast nook, and scullery, making it ideal for meal preparation and family gatherings. For added comfort, the open-plan dining area flows seamlessly into the lounge, which features a fireplace for cosy evenings.
A covered patio with a braai area provides the perfect setting for outdoor meals and relaxation, while a cosy nook at the back of the house is ideal for enjoying afternoon tea. The fire pit overlooking the river creates a memorable atmosphere for evening bonfires. The house is pet-friendly and will soon be equipped with solar power for sustainable living.
Convenience and Amenities
Riverbend is designed for convenience, featuring a gas stove and oven, pressure cooker, coffee machine, fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine. Free shaded parking is available on-site for guests’ vehicles.
Fly-Fishing and Activities
Riverbend on Komati is a sought-after destination for fly-fishing enthusiasts, with a popular Yellowfish hot spot located directly below the house at the weir. The property is a short walk or drive from Komati Gorge Lodge, granting guests access to the lodge’s facilities, including a fully licensed restaurant and pub—ideal for times when guests prefer not to cook—and a swimming pool.
Guests can enjoy a variety of activities on the reserve, such as fly-fishing, fishing in the river for two species of Yellowfish, Bass, and Barbel, hiking trails, exploring waterfalls, wild swimming, picnics, horse riding, birding, game drives, and relaxing at the spa.
